This melamine "Margrethe" mixing bowl is nice and deep for mixing batters. A rubberized ring on the base of the bowl prevents slipping as you whisk, beat, or stir. A wide edge on one side of the bowl allows you to properly grip and steady the bowl when beating, and a pouring lip on the other side makes it easy to pour the batter into cake pans.
Not intended for use in microwave. Melamine is resistant to scratches, stains, and odour transfer and is heat resistant to 356°F/180C.

This is a bowl I have been looking for for years. It's large but lightweight, has a comfortable handle and a spout. And it's got a rubber ring on the base to keep it from sliding around on the counter. It's a great bowl for pancake batter or biscuit dough or bread dough for that matter. My largest bowl also arrived broken. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it before I had already thrown out the box and now can't return them.



Normally, I would just assume bad luck and give this a slightly higher rating. However, given that someone else had this same issue - twice - I have to assume there is some defect with these bowls. BTW, the shipping container and packing box were in excellent condition, so hard to blame this on abuse in transit. This certainly doesn't bode well for long-term reliability, either.



If there weren't issues with breakage, I would probably lean towards three stars. Bowls feel solid,but they don't have non-slip bottoms, which would be helpful for mixing. Also, the colors are a mixed-bag - some are nice others are pretty ugly.



Who would have thought that it would be so difficult to find a decent set of stacking mixing bowls?

I bought the bowls directly from Macy's. When I opened them, there was a warning on the bottom of each bowl not to use in the microwave. This was not mentioned on the box - only that they are "versatile". Not very versatile to me. Other than that, they are pretty and nice sizes. I will just have to warn the other family members not to use them in the microwave, and hope they remember.

I had these bowls sent to me and they arrived with the largest one broken. I sent them back and they were reshipped to me, and they arrived again, broken. I finally gave up and had Macy's refund me, but they refused to refund the shipping and handling, which was roughly $7. 3 months have elapsed and I've lost money and still have no bowls! Such a disappointment. I will not shop with Macy's again.



I've seen these bowls for the same price at Target - do the legwork! Bring home unbroken bowls!

Despite being called mixing bowls in the description you would be hard pressed to mix much of anything in any of the bowls but the largest of them. I would classify these as more of a utility/prep bowl, great for holding pre-measured ingredients so they can be kept within arms reach while cooking.



The quaility of the set is about average, they are not the best glass in my kitchen but by far not the worst I have ever come accross. The lids fit snugly though I question how long they will maintain their shape and snug fit.



As I mentioned these are very much a basic utilitarian set of bowls, so if you're looking for something more than that these are probably not it. And as the previous review mentioned, the packaging of these could definitely have been done better.
